What you can expect

O ur tour kicks off with – what else? – the sacred Hill of Acropolis and the very famous Acropolis Museum. Always with our expert tour guide by your side, you will find out everything about the monumental buildings of Acropolis, including the godly Parthenon, and you will have the chance to admire the exhibits of the Acropolis Museum through an educational walk.

Your Ancient-Athens wanderings won’t stop in just the Acropolis Hill though. You will discover the Roman Agora and the myth behind the Tower of Winds, as well as many other ancient buildings like the Library of Hadrian and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Dip your toes in the eighteenth and nineteenth-century Athens, rambling around Syntagma Square, the most popular meeting point in the city. Turn your eyes towards the Panathenaic Stadium, where the 1st modern Olympic Games took place and continue your exploration with other emblematic buildings of Athens neoclassical architecture.

Breathe in deeply amongst the hundreds of plant species in the National Gardens and walk through Plaka - the “island” in the heart of the city of Athens – the multi-colored Monastiraki and the Athens Central Market filled with smells of herbs and local food.

Our walk will come to an end in front of the Lycicrates monument in Plaka, at a very close distance to the Acropolis Metro Station. By the time we say goodbye, you’ll have seen the best of Athens in a walk that includes everything; history, architecture, ancient & modern city life.

Tour Reviews

Excellent tour of Athens!
Excellent tour of Athens!

My son and I did the all day tour in Athens. Our guide, Xenia was wonderful. She was so knowledgeable without giving us an information overload. We really enjoyed it. Would recommend, seeing the sights without the history wouldn't have done them justice.

Athens Day Tour
Athens Day Tour

Had a wonderful day tour with Evita from Greeking.me. She met us as promised and guided us through the Acropolis and Parthenon, Acropolis Museum, Plaka District, Changing of the guards, The National Gardens and the Temple of Zeus. She worked hard at keeping my 13 year old engaged and discussing Greek mythology with my 16 and 18 year old which they really enjoyed. We also had a great Greek lunch together. Evita never rushed us but made sure we made the most of day in Athens and got us back to our cruise ship on time (very important - LOL). She was very informative, easy to talk to and a lot of fun to spend the day with. Thanks so much Evita and Greeking-me.

A great way to spend one day transit in Athens
A great way to spend one day transit in Athens

I had one day transit in Athens after a wonderful couple of days in Kefalonia. This tour was a great way to get a quick insight into the city, complete with lots of delicious food. Greeking.me were really responsive and very friendly to deal with. Despite being the only person on the group tour for that day, they went ahead, which I really appreciated. Elena, my guide, was lovely, friendly and very knowledgable about the city, Greece, the food and history. Everything was very well planned and thorough. I really enjoyed myself and would definitely recommend this tour.

Athens walking day tour with Anastasia
Athens walking day tour with Anastasia

This was an extremely worthwhile experience as you really get to know the different neighborhoods of Athens. Anastasia our guide studied archaeology at university so needless to say was very knowledgeable in regard to the city's ancient history; but she also led us expertly through the modern Athens.

Highlight of our trip!
Highlight of our trip!

The tailored tour we had definitely made our short trip to Athens a most memorable experience. Xenia, our guide, was a perfect match for us, since with all her expertise she could not only easily cope with a student of Classics visiting the Acropolis (me), but also with a passionate interlocutor eager to discuss today's politics (my Dad). We spent a perfect day starting with the Acropolis and the ancient Agora in the morning, with a very good (and very abundant) lunch only a stone's throw from Hephaistos Temple, and an afternoon stroll around a completely different Athens full of contrasts which gave us the bigger picture of this fascinating city. We finished in a very nice café talking about anything and everything and laughing a lot. We will certainly remember Xenia and this lovely and most instructive day for a long time. This is a hearty recommendation to anyone who wishes to get to know Athens at first hand.
