It was just what we were looking for, some local delicacies that we wouldn't have known to try, we even got to try some local spirits. We did an Athens evening food & wine tour with Marina. We started with about 5 tapas at a restaurant that put a more modern flair on Greek cuisine. We then went to a traditional Greek restaurant that we never would have come across otherwise. We then proceeded to a wine bar to sample some excellent Greek wines. The night wrapped at a bakery to sample some baklava. I highly recommend this tour!

Greeking.me is definitely worth it! We did a private food tour of Athens! Eleni was our guide and she was warm, friendly, and so knowledgeable! We went to two fantastic restaurants and a wine bar. We got to eat real, authentic, local food and tried about 10-12 different dishes and 3 different wines along with a huge (and tasty) local cheese tray. I have food allergies, so I was glad we were able to pass that information along ahead of time.

We had just arrived in Athens & with jet lag, we weren’t in any shape to make a dinner decision... so we decided to sign up for this walking food tour! Elena gave us the lay of the land by taking us to 4 different stops (2 for food, one wine + cheese, one baklava), during which we passed many major points of interest & got info on each neighborhood. We also got tips on local dinning etiquette & also more places to continue the culinary adventure. The food was great at each of the places—one a little more upscale & the other, had a more home-cooked feel. Everything we sampled was amazing & we left ready for a good night’s sleep with a full belly.

A great food and wine tour requires the presence of a few things. The first is key: a positive, outgoing attitude exuded by all persons involved. The second is mandatory: a healthy portion of interesting, delicious, and authentic points of interest. My wife and 2 of our best friends booked the Private Athens for foodies tour. Our guide Tiama was the perfect host and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was more than enough food that we were unable to finish everything at each stop (and I am a big eater), there was variety of food/drinks and a willingness to accommodate any culinary requests (i.e. vegetarian). Note: Nobody needed a meal after this tour!

Went on this tour with Elena who was truly a charming hostess. We went to a restaurant I would not have thought to be a family place and had five very nice appetizers. Then onto a much smaller very out of the way (she did this on purpose - we would never had found this spot). Again this was quite a charming street side place with some very unique dishes. Finally to a wine bar as a very classy setting and with five local wines. Our group of four was quite pleased with evening and especially our gracious hostess. Loved the experience of seeing a unique side of Athens we would never had seen on our own.

Tiama, our tour guide for the Night Food Tour, in spite of it was too much rain in that day , she didn't stop for while and kept explored and explained everything, she was fantastic, we had a wonderful day me and my family enjoyed too much with her.

What a terrific food tour! Our guide was engaging, kind and interesting. I appreciated her passion and enthusiasm for Greek foodways. We sampled some delicious Greek cuisine and, at one restaurant in particular, we tried some more unusual items: braised meats with a middle eastern influence, a black eyed pea salad and braised cabbage. I also appreciated that we walked through a neighborhood that seemed less touristy, which i would never have gone to on my own. Our final stop was a wine tasting, and the woman who owned the shop conducted it. She was as personable as our tour guide, which made a great end to the evening

Our tour guide, Penelope, definitely made this tour absolutely wonderful. As our first introduction to Greece, she was a delight to have show us around the center of Athens. All of her food suggestions were delicious. We especially liked that we went to locally owned shops and shops that served locally owned food, appreciated supporting local businesses. This is a must do tour when coming to Athens, you will not regret it!

We visited the night food tour with Eleni. We had a group of 6 persons - our family (2 adults and my son 11 years old), two women from Germany and a man from the USA. Eleni was very professional, she told us many interesting things about Greek cuisine and history and answered any question we had. The program was planned perfect. At first we visited two restaurants with very local food. At the end of the tour we went to a wine bar. There we had opportunity to receive many information about greek wine from very professional sommelier and of course we tasted it. As usual during the food tour we could receive a brilliant experience of communication to each other. So I can recommend this tour for everyone who likes food and communication.

Last weekend we had a very enjoyable evening with Elena at two local restaurants and a cool wine bar. We experienced ten different local dishes which we all unique and tasty. She was a great host providing a lot of history and local knowledge about each dish. For the finale, we sent to a wine bar in the Thisseio district to sample five Greek wines. Overall an exceptional evening that we would highly recommend on your visit to Athens.

Our tour was guided by the wonderful Penelope! She was Informative, educated, engaging, fun and passionate about Athens and all it’s rich history. Her food choices accentuated the most wholesome fresh (farm to table) traditional Greek dishes located in small local (not touristy) establishments. We experienced three/four different Greek dishes at each of the restaurants. Surprisingly to us, the dishes were filled with rich flavors and were delicious. If for not going on this tour, we would have never experienced true Greek food and seen the local nightlife.

Excellent tour — we stopped at three locations: a wine bar for tasting and light meze, a modern Greek restaurant for drinks and heavy meze, and a traditional restaurant for, essentially, a full meal. Penelope was very knowledgeable, friendly, and a super guide. All the food and drinks were interesting and tasty. I wasn't as much of a fan of the home cooking of the traditional restaurant as the other two, but it was charming and a good sampling of traditional dishes. Great value for the price.

Max was a great guide! We had great bites bites at 1. "Ella Greek Cooking": chortokeftedes (spinach and leak fritters with feta accompanied with yoghurt, olive oil and tomato sauce), pastourmadopitakia aka kesaria pies (beef pastrami and tomato wrapped in phylo pastry), mastic liqueur/spoon sweet and raki (or tsipouro or tsikoudia).2. "To Krasoupoulio tou Kokkora": Greek salad, soutzoukakia (beef kofte with cumin, cinnamon & garlic in a tomato sauce), tzatziki, moussaka! The wine tasting was fun too

My wife and I went on this Athens night food tour and cannot speak more highly of the experience. Our guide was Tiama. She is divine. Request her. You will not be sorry. She introduces you to great local food. Each stop is better than the next. And Tiama explains where the food you are eating comes from and how it is culturally significant and it is all neatly put into historical perspective, too. The tour, which is limited to six or seven people, is a fantastic way to see Athens. And you get to eat great food with good company. What is better than that?

We had an outstanding Athens food tour. I am writing this over a week after our tour, and I hate that I've forgotten our tour guide's name but she was excellent. We booked this for our arrival day in Athens, as a way to get ourselves to stay awake, get oriented, and walk around. It was perfect. We did request to have the tour shortened to 3 hours instead of 4, to accommodate our exhaustion and that worked well. All of the food was outstanding, and we really felt like we got a great introduction to Greek food and Greek life. Pace yourself! There is a ton of food. Can't recommend highly enough.

Max, our guide, took the time to give us a story behind the food, some insights about Athens that I even didn't know, even though I am Greek, and paced the night very well. What a great way to spend our last evening in Athens! Our guide Penelope was superb, she really knew her stuff, she was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her job. We had a fantastic time with our guide and the rest of the guys who joined us on the tour too. We learned loads about Greek history, traditions and we now know much more about Greek food than we did before the tour! This tour had more than we ever thought! Our guide Tiama was fantastic. Not only was the food she introduced us to amazing but we got mini lessons on Greek expressions, culture, and traditions. She told us interesting stories of her heritage and really seemed to care about everyone in the group. One of the most valuable things I came away with was an understanding of Athenian hotspots. If you’re new to Athens and have never been here before the sheer size can be very intimidating. But in between the different eateries and tavernas that she took us to we walked through some interesting and lovely neighborhoods. We specifically went back to those neighborhoods the next day and had a fantastic time exploring the places further. Even if you’re only here for a day this tour is a 100% must do. Hope that you get Tamia! She’s the best!
