Heraklion for Foodies: Private Culinary Tour in Crete

Thank you very much for the lovely experience. We started our day with coffee and Bugatsa and carried on with a wide selection of different delicacies. Finished our day with lovely seafood restaurant on sea front . The next day my husband enjoyed the wine tasting in opus wine bar while I enjoyed the accompanying food. Athena and Dimetra were fabulous guides.

Communication with Dimitra was excellent and they can cater the tour for food allergies, preferences or perceived "intolerances". We were met at the arranged time and we then embarked on a tour of honey shops, herbalist, pastry shops, taverna and seafood restaurants. Our guides were very informative about the food and Heraklion in general. Their English was perfect. We cannot recommend enough!

Every establishment that we entered for the tour greeted us warmly and truly made us feel special. We learned the importance of pure and fresh ingredients and that the herbs and grasses used for food and teas are gathered fresh in the wilder areas of Crete. Athina, our guide, is passionate about sharing her knowledge about food and Crete!

We enjoy learning about the culture of an area we are visiting through its food and this food tour met all of our expectations! Athina, our guide, has a passion for and substantial knowledge of Cretin foods as well as the establishments we visited.The food tour experience is about "food," but it is the guide that brings the excitement and interest to the tour and Athina does a great job.

We had such a great tour, loved our tour guide, got an incredible behind the scenes tour of Cretan Food. We were so happily stuffed at the end of the 4 hours, be prepared to eat a ton!

Our guide Athina was amazing! So passionate about the food and culture of Crete and supportive of all the local businesses. With the Cretan tradition of providing complimentary desserts and the local wine Raki at the end of each large meal, to the fascinating local herbal apothecary, we cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Wonderful, well-planned foodie walking tour. We meet conveniently in the center of town and walked to various boutique food venues to sample all included! Demetrius with Crista was our guide and he did a wonderful job in customizing the pace. ALSO, he had a great depth of knowledge around Cretan food and history. I recommend this highly!

BEST FOODIE TOUR EVER! Athina was the best! She shared her passion for all of her favorite food stops in the Heraklion Center City. From the great bakeries to the cheese stop to the herbologist to a fantastic 9 best Cretan foods at a classic locals only restaurant, we loved every minute! Highly recommend this one. You will not be disapointed!

The tour was an amazing experience. We had a real in sight of many different tastes of different food. We loved the family businesses. Our guide Athena was amazing as well.
