Royal Victoria feels like a storybook in a building. Famed for its escapist atmosphere within a picturesque environment, this hotel allows travelers to relax in style.
The building itself was originally a textile mill built in the 19th century, which is why it doesn’t look like your average resort in the area. However, its history is what makes it so special compared to other resorts.
There are 43 rooms in the hotel, all of which have been individually decorated and furnished to provide a unique experience. Many of those rooms offer a gorgeous view of the lake, so you can drink your morning cup of coffee or tea in full tranquility mode. After that, you can go down to the restaurant and enjoy a hot breakfast along with a glass of Prosecco.
The lobby was deliberately maintained to look old-fashioned. The main colors are browns, burnt oranges, and whites, which are featured on everything from the furniture to the ceilings. The theme continues throughout the hotel, and while there are also 21st-century touches in the building, the 'old blood' parts are mostly dominant throughout the rooms.
Stop by the Royal Gourmet restaurant, which is open for every meal of the day. You can have your meal inside the restaurant or on the veranda, which offers you stunning views of the lake. After that, you can stop by the Suite Spa, where you can enjoy a Turkish bath or a Finnish sauna.

There is a very chic and comfy outdoor heated pool, whose deck lets you sunbathe while looking at the lake.
It’s only a one-minute walk from the town square, while guests get easy access to the beach, as it’s only a few minutes away by foot.
Royal Victoria is nestled in the central area of Varenna – a nice and tranquil fishing village.
The place does not have too many tourist hot spots, and for most of them, you will likely have to drive. However, the scenery itself will provide you with all the entertainment that you need.
Stepping out of the hotel, you are meters away from the cobblestone piazza, which many say is an extension of the hotel. The lack of traffic makes the village easy to walk or drive through, allowing you to reach the main tourist spots. A three-minute walk will take you to Villa Monastero, a monastery with a beautiful garden that was converted into a conference center.
A two-minute drive will take you to Castello di Vezio, and a 10-minute drive will take you to Villa Melzi Gardens. Stop for refreshments or a snack at the Nilus bar, which is several minutes away from the hotel.
